Privacy Policy

Short version: Arguox does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on Arguox servers. All data stays on your device. The only data that leaves your device is what you explicitly configure the app to POST to your own endpoint.

1. Who We Are

Arguox is a mobile application developed for Android and iOS. The app captures photos with embedded metadata overlays and can optionally post that data to a user-configured API endpoint.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Arguox does not:

  • Require you to create an account or sign in.
  • Transmit any data to Arguox servers.
  • Store your photos, location, or metadata anywhere outside your device.
  • Track your usage or behavior within the app.
  • Share your data with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes beyond what AdMob requires to serve ads (see ยง5).

3. Data Stored on Your Device

Arguox stores the following data on your device:

  • App settings: configured metadata fields, overlay preferences, API endpoint URLs, button mode, font size, opacity, and premium status.
  • Capture logs: photo file paths on your device, metadata snapshots, timestamps, upload status, and action type.
  • Upload queue: pending API payloads (including image data) that could not be delivered while offline, plus retry counts and status.

This data never leaves your device except when you initiate an upload to your own configured endpoint. You can clear all app data at any time through your device's app settings.

4. Data You Choose to Send

When you configure an API endpoint and capture a photo, Arguox sends a JSON payload to that URL. The payload may include GPS coordinates, reverse-geocoded address, timestamp, device info, camera state, custom text lines, and the captured image as Base64.

You control which fields are included in the Metadata section of Settings. You are solely responsible for the privacy and security of the endpoint you configure and the data sent to it. Arguox has no visibility into or control over that endpoint.

If you use a Google Apps Script URL as your endpoint, your captures (including photos and metadata) are sent to Google's servers and may be saved to Google Drive and Google Sheets under your Google account. In that case, Google's Privacy Policy governs how that data is stored and processed. Arguox has no access to or control over your Google account data.

5. Third-Party Services

Arguox uses the following third-party services, each operating under their own privacy policies:

OpenStreetMap Nominatim (reverse geocoding)

When online and location is enabled, Arguox sends your GPS coordinates to the Nominatim API to retrieve a street address. No personal identifier is sent, only latitude and longitude.

Open-Meteo (weather & humidity, optional)

When the Weather or Humidity environmental overlay is enabled in Settings, Arguox sends your GPS coordinates to the Open-Meteo API to retrieve current weather data. No personal identifier is sent. This feature is off by default and requires an internet connection.

Google AdMob (advertising)

If you have not purchased the Remove Ads option, Arguox displays full-screen App Open ads powered by Google AdMob after every 10 minutes of use. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized ads in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

iOS (App Tracking Transparency): Before AdMob initializes on iOS, the app presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you deny tracking, AdMob will serve non-personalized ads and will not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).

EU / EEA users (GDPR): Users in the European Union and European Economic Area are shown a consent form powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before any ad loads. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time through your device's privacy settings. Declining consent results in non-personalized ads.

You can remove all ads with a one-time purchase. The free version requires an active internet connection to load ads.

Google Play / Apple App Store (in-app purchases)

The "Remove Ads" purchase is processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. Arguox does not process or store payment information.

Google Apps Script / Drive / Sheets (user-configured endpoint)

If you configure a Google Apps Script URL as your endpoint, Arguox sends your captures directly to that script. The script may save photos to Google Drive and log metadata to Google Sheets under your own Google account. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Arguox has no access to your Google account and does not receive copies of this data.

6. Permissions

Arguox requests the following device permissions:

  • Camera: to capture photos.
  • Location (when in use): to embed GPS coordinates. Only requested when Location is enabled in Settings. Never collected in the background.
  • Photo Library / Storage: to save captured photos to your device gallery.
  • Motion / Barometer (iOS): to read barometric pressure for the optional Pressure environmental overlay. Only used when the Pressure toggle is enabled in Settings.
  • Internet: to perform reverse geocoding, to fetch weather data (when enabled), and to POST to your configured endpoint. Required at all times on the free plan because ads are served online; optional on the paid plan (Remove Ads users can capture and queue uploads offline).

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's system settings.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / Privacy Laws)

Because Arguox does not collect or store personal data on its own servers, most data-subject rights under the GDPR and similar laws apply to the data processors you choose to use (Google, your configured endpoint), not to Arguox directly.

However, with respect to data stored on your device by the Arguox app, you have the following rights:

  • Access & portability: all data is stored locally on your device and is accessible to you at any time.
  • Rectification: you can edit any stored data through the app's Settings screen.
  • Erasure: you can delete all app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in your device's settings.
  • Restriction / objection: you can disable any metadata field, permission, or feature at any time through Settings.

For rights relating to data processed by AdMob (including ad personalization), please refer to Google's Privacy Policy and use Google's privacy controls.

EU / EEA residents have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection supervisory authority if they believe their rights have not been respected.

8. Children's Privacy

Arguox is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, please contact us at support.arguox@juanlobby.com.

9. Data Retention

All data is stored only on your device and retained until you delete the app or clear its data. Arguox has no ability to delete data on your behalf as we do not have access to it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Where required by law, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
